Senior Policy Analyst
CurrentJay Stanley is Senior Policy Analyst with the American Civil Liberties Union’s Speech, Privacy and Technology Project, where he researches, writes and speaks about technology-related privacy and civil liberties issues and their future. SPT works to protect and expand the rights of freedom of expression and privacy, actively promoting responsible technology uses that enhance our rights, while opposing invasive uses, such as unnecessary surveillance. Stanley has written hundreds of blog posts and a variety of influential ACLU reports on such topics as AI surveillance, police body cameras, drones, network neutrality, scientific freedom, data mining, government spying, airline passenger security, video surveillance, face-recognition technology, photographer's rights, and the need for new privacy oversight institutions. Stanley has also served as communications strategist for the ACLU, and is a frequent media spokesperson on technology issues.
