NASA trained Flight Controller who enjoys both the engineering and operations side of the space industry. NASA provides constant training for its employees and has given me the experience necessary to excel at any potential job. As a Flight Controller, we are taught not only the technical skills required to be competent at flying the International Space Station, but we are taught all the soft skills required to communicate effectively, lead team members through time-critical and tough situations, and analyze risk and options for any scenario. After training to be a Flight controller for 2 years, I gained my certification as an ISS Flight Controller in the Attitude Determination and Control group (ADCO). After gaining my certification, I have worked on several successful missions including ISS Translational Reboosts, Progress dockings, US EVAs, and Debris Avoidance Maneuvers. While working on missions, I gained other certifications that allowed me to become an ISS Flight Controller Instructor as well as an ISS Crew Instructor. This gave me the skills necessary to instruct and evaluate and the highest level. Not only am I responsible for teaching lessons, but one of the other main components of being an Instructor is to push future Flight Controllers to exceed their own expectations and become the best Flight Controllers possible. This is only done by understanding the individual needs of each trainee and constructing creative methods by which to train them.
