A highly skilled Engineering Submariner with 22 years experience gained in the Royal Navy. Initially trained as an Operator Maintainer Sensors Submariner before moving onto complete further qualifications to enable me to work as a SONAR Operator and SONAR Equipment Maintainer. When the Navy restructure occurred I moved to the Engineering Technician branch requiring me to develop a working knowledge of a number of engineering disciplines within the Submarine Weapon Engineering department, including internal/external communications, ordnance, command and control systems and SONAR.In 2009 I was selected for promotion to Leading Engineering Technician developing into the weapons specialisation, this meant working as a maintainer and team leader in both the ordnance and command and control sections, as well as qualifying to control submarine launched weapons. During this role I developed additional skills and expertise including oversight of personnel, stores and logistics, training, Health and Safety and COSHH.On completion of Petty Officer training in 2014 I completed a Foundation Degree in Engineering which I passed with Distinction.As an Ordinance Section Head I have been responsible for the embarkation and accounting of the submarine's tactical weapons and pyrotechnics, this meant I could be physically and financially responsible for up to £70 Million worth of equipment and munitions. Additional responsibilities also include the administration, maintenance and defect rectification of the weapon discharge system, magazine fire suppression system, deployable aerials and sonar's and other ancillary equipment.I have entered the final phase of my career with a discharge date of May 2025, though I should be available to start work at a new position as early as Febuary 2025. I am using this time to start a top up of my foundation degree with Staffordshire University to a BEng (Hons) in Engineering Management. I am also in the process of becoming an accredited Integrated Engineer (IEng) with the IET.I am based in Plymouth and will be seeking an engineering management role. I wish to remain in the Plymouth area but am happy to consider a remote or hybrid role.While my experience will lend itself to the defence sector I am open to a fresh start in a new direction and would be extremely interested in moving into a new industry, with a particular interest in renewable energy should the opportunity become available.
