My name is Jay De Vera, I am a recent graduate of Texas A&M University where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Computer Science. Currently, I am the UX Designer for VET+MAP (Veteran’s Evaluation of talent + Matching Assistance Program) at Texas A&M, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to unleashing veteran potential by guiding student veterans toward uncovering their strengths, values, and purpose. Using this insight, we align them with careers that allow them to thrive and make a meaningful impact.I am recognized for my ability to deeply and strategically comprehend complex problems and activate others to passionately discover new ideas and solutions. At VET+MAP, I lead the development of an interactive digital platform for veterans to have an impactful and positive experience as they proceed through our program. I utilize my technical expertise in web design/programming and apply UX principles and practices to my work, such as user-centered design, conducting user research, and iteratively designing wireframes and prototypes using Figma. My experience as a UX Designer is defined by my abilities to empathize and communicate with others, achieve goals with unwavering determination, and quickly adapt to ambiguity and unexpected change. My problem-solving approach is characterized by the desire to understand the “why” of a given issue down to the minute detail, generating informed and meaningful solutions.
