Through this fellowship, I am researching the historical diplomacy and religious experiences of Japanese-American individuals, families, and churches affected by the injustices of post-WWII incarceration. Through research in California, Arizona, and Colorado, I aim to explore how individuals and communities, facing state-sponsored adversity, relied on spiritual traditions for resilience while governments worked to rebuild diplomatic relationships in the post-war world.
