Jay Freeland is a Board Member, Volunteer and the retired Chairman, CEO and Director of two different Nasdaq listed companies. From 2004-2015, Jay was President, CEO and Director of FARO Technologies (NASDAQ: FARO). During his eleven-year tenure at FARO, Jay grew the Company’s revenue by 5x and quadrupled their market capitalization to $1.1 billion. In 2011 FARO was named one of Popular Science’s Most Innovative Companies, in 2013 was named one of Fortune’s 100 Fastest Growing Companies, and in 2014 was named one of Forbes’ Best Small Companies. He retired from FARO in 2015.In 2018, Jay joined the Board of Directors of Perceptron (NASDAQ: PRCP). He became Chairman in early 2019 and was asked to step-in as Interim President and CEO in late 2019. During his tenure he stabilized and restructured the organization, leading to an all cash sale of the company to Swedish conglomerate Atlas Copco (STO: ATCO-A) in December 2020, at a 192% share price premium.Earlier in his career, Jay spent twelve years as an executive at GE. He has traveled to and done business in more than 50 countries and been a guest on CNBC and Fox Business.Jay remains active in his retirement. He serves on the Board of Directors and is an investor in Beeline, a student debt pay down app and on the Board for x-lumin, a leader in optical wireless communications. He is also an angel investor in and advisor to companies that are meaningfully improving the lives of others including My Gene Counsel, NBZ Apparel and Silivhere. One of his earliest Angel investments, Torchlight, was sold to LifeSpeak (TSX:LSPK) for $20 million in December, 2021.Jay serves on the Board of Trustees for his Alma mater, Union College, and is Chair of their President’s Council. He is President of the Board of Trustees for the National Down Syndrome Congress as well as on the Board of Directors and Treasurer for the Down Syndrome Association of Brevard. Jay serves on the Board of Directors for the Brevard Zoo and Aquarium and is Board President for the Liberty Bell Museum.In his spare time, Jay is a coach and the Board President for Tim's Kids, an organization that provides free equipment and ice time for people with disabilities who want to learn to play hockey. He also continues to play competitively, including on teams in USA Hockey’s Over 50 National Championships. Jay's other free-time interests include kayaking, biking, running, golf and traveling.
