This course continues to this day as the certification course from Staar Surgical as mandated by the FDA approval. Working in concert with the partners, consultants and CORE board of directors and surgeons, we grew this venture into a strongly profitable business over these four years.In late 1996, the partners at MSS split off our refractive business and founded a new refractive business called Refractive Surgical Resources (RSR) and built a similar business model in the area of mobile corneal refractive surgery, serving the growing need for surgeon training and surgical procedures in the corneal surgery market. With the advent of the excimer laser and FDA approval on these products in late 1998, this market eventually grew into the LASIK laser market we know today. The company did combine strategic alliances with excimer laser companies to provide the laser equipment at these mobile refractive locations we started.In late 1999, we sold the two business’ RSR and MSS to LaserVision, which now continues to operate these business models within their company now known as TLCVision, Inc. and is the largest provider of Cataract and Refractive Surgery in the country.
