Based on several generations of wood frame construction experience, Wood Truss Systems, Inc. (WTS) was founded as an independent manufacturers’ representative agency by Robert A. “Bob” Halteman in 1987. Jay Halteman joined the “team” in 1988 and assumed responsibility for business and identity development. Started as a partnership the company was incorporated in the State of Indiana in 1995. In its 34-year history the company has developed into the premier professional sales entity in the wood component industry. WTS has built a reputation for honesty and fair dealings with thousands of customers and vendors across the United States, Canada, Australia and at least a dozen other countries. Moving forward, the company continues to expand their domestic business and export business through their expertise in off-site construction featuring product-oriented solutions to wood frame construction markets worldwide. To better reflect the expanding nature of our service to the wood frame construction industry a new trade name, Wood Tech Systems, was introduced in June of 2020.Through it all, we remain true to our mission – We offer expert field sales to OEM manufacturers as independent manufacturers' representatives, and we broker used wood component machinery. We do not manufacture equipment, provide technical services, or speculate in buying used machinery for resale. Our revenue is derived from commissioned sales of new OEM machinery and broker’s fees from used machinery. We trade primarily on our reputation of nearly 50 years’ worth of industry relationships, knowledge of structural wood component equipment, and service to the industry through active participation in the Structural Building Components Association (SBCA).
