Innovative business visionary and disruptive change agent, with 40 years of experience developing and launching new information services, first at Knight Ridder, then at Citibank, and now at SurveyUSA, the full-service opinion research company I founded in 1990.With much help from colleagues and bosses:• I helped launch the Miami Beach section of the Miami Herald newspaper.• I helped design the first consumer videotext service, Viewtron, which paved the way for the Internet. • I helped create the user-interface that appeared on a proprietary home-banking appliance that predated the widespread adoption of home computers. • And I revolutionized the public opinion polling business … by eliminating the single largest cost of conducting research; by shortening turnaround time; by changing how survey research is priced; by changing how questions are asked; and by re-thinking how best to collect data. More public opinion polls are conducted using methodology invented at SurveyUSA than are conducted by other means. Is there a thread common to these experiences? Yes. Unbounded creativity combined with an ability to synthesize, write and edit.
