 Manages overall performance of three billing groups in the South Region of FMC -NA to ensure tasks are completed timely in accordance with corporate policy and procedure. Monitors the four basic functions within the billing groups: Admissions, Billing, Collections, and Cash Posting, while providing guidance and subject matter expertise to ensure effective and efficient revenue cycle functions are maintained. Three billing groups comprised of 80 FTE’s. Monitor level of performance within each billing group developing action plans to address any deviations from established levels of required performance and/or goals. Identify, address, and correct deficiencies within the operating process of the Admission, Billing, Collection, and Cash units. Implement process improvements and other initiatives as appropriate. Escalate payer related issues to the appropriate insurance carrier representative when warranted. Enforce financial controls set-forth by the Regional Financial Center. Prepare monthly AR Analysis, Days Outstanding Standing Analysis, Bad Debt prelist, Bad Debt write-offs, and quarterly Pricing Analysis for Regional and Divisional Management Team.

 Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the CBO including registration functions, billing, cash collections, denial management, cash posting, and patient billing. Monitor key daily, weekly, and monthly financial data to promote effective decision making and trouble-shooting solutions. Manage the timely review of open AR by improving work process, performing quality assurance, and documenting policies and procedures. Provide appropriate feedback via staff meetings, one on one consultation, and e-mail correspondence to build and develop a strong business office team. Assists Business Office Director in resolving intradepartmental and interdepartmental system/process problems. Provides input for resolution of identified problems/concerns. Assists in directing operational plans, resource allocation, and policies of department consistent with the organization’s mission.

 Responsible for the interpretation and loading of reimbursement rates for governmental and managed care payers. Provides resolution to contractual discrepancies and internal system problems with contract/reimbursement modeling. Direct activities to resolve underpayments/overpayments. Works in conjunction with the Director of Managed Care and Director of Patient Financial Services to establish communication with payer representatives in order to resolve contractual discrepancies. Oversee posting or payer payments and denial processing to ensure the timely and accurate processing of remittance advices. Responsible for the reconciliation of cash receipts to the daily bank deposits. Monitor trends in accounts receivable to provide feedback to the Director of Patient Financial Services. Develop and maintain mechanisms utilized in the financial decision making process of the hospital.
