JAY JASKI is Associate Chair and Professor of the Acting Department at SCAD Savannah. As an actor, Professor Jaski has performed on Broadway and off, including in Tony Award-winning composer Maury Yeston’s, Death Takes a Holiday (Roundabout Theatre, Original Cast Recording, 10 Drama Desk nominations, mention NY Times). Jay has had the privilege of sharing the NY stage with such iconic performers as Rebecca Luker, Sutton Foster, and Donna Murphy and has been directed by such Tony Award-winning directors as Joe Mantello, Graciela Danielle, Doug Hughes, and Richard Maltby, Jr. As a vocalist, Jay developed his tenor technique under Joan Lader, singing at such legendary venues as Birdland, Town Hall, The Jazz Standard, and St. Patrick's Cathedral. As a director, Jay’s acclaimed pops concerts with conductor Kevin Stites (Sondheim, Bernstein, Gershwin) starred such Broadway veterans as Marin Mazzie, Norm Lewis, Judy Kaye, Harolyn Blackwell, and Brian d’Arcy James — performances that regularly drew more than 20,000 people to Chicago’s Millennium Park. As a dramaturg, Jay has collaborated with the O’Neill Theater Center, Richard Rodgers Award, and Tony Award-winning director/lyricist Richard Maltby Jr. Professor Jaski is a member of AEA and LMDA and holds a BM in Music Theatre performance from Florida State University and an MFA in Dramaturgy and Script Development from Columbia University, fulfilling his Shubert Graduate Fellowships in Princeton at the McCarter Theatre Center. At SCAD, Professor Jaski most recently directed the Mainstage production of Little Women, as well as the original SCAD commemorative musical, The Lucas Show.
