I believe that an effective design utilizes and maintains the environmental features that differentiate each piece of land giving every project its own sense of place. Profit margin should not be the overall goal of a designer, the primary objective should be enhancing that sense of place to bring out the best in those the interacting with it on a daily basis. For a residential development; the focus should be on the residents. For an office park; the focus should be on the workers. Too often, the most important piece of the puzzle is over-looked, yet the most important: the people. Acceptance of a drab and thoughtless design, because of a reluctance to venture into the realm of innovation is laughable. I aim to improve the sense of place to every design, not leaving the land to the whims of cookie cutter suburbia, or bleak concrete structures.
