My father was in the hardware business in Pittsburgh, PA - as was his father - as was his father. I grew up with a love of tools and hands-on experience with numerous types and levels of repairs, at home and at work. We moved to Cocoa Beach, FL in 1963.I worked for my father in his commercial warehouse business - handling, storing and delivering freight supporting area growth during development of the Space Coast.I went to work for Sea Ray Boats when they launched their plant on Merritt Island, FL. I had skills as a carpenter and ran their wood shop for awhile before moving to R&D under their outstanding designer Jerry Michelak. I enjoyed doing design and fabrication work and leveraged my skills to transfer to Tolleycraft Boats in Longview, WA where I continued developing my skills with design and fabrication of larger boats. I moved on to manage a small manufacturing process in late 1970's focused on excellent self-sufficiency products. I then moved to electronics work in 1983 with Hewlett Packard's Lake Steven's Instrument Division as a process supervisor. After HP I worked with multiple MSP's over the years. I'm still at it, though I've reduced hours to part-time.I spent a couple of years working part-time for the Washington State Employment Security Department. Following 9/11 jobs were hard to find in Eastern Washington. I asked my counselor at Employment Security how I could get a job like hers. She told me and I did. I enjoyed learning multiple integrated computer systems and processing claims for unemployment benefits. I was a direct contact for people seeking benefits via a call center position. It was challenging and great! I enjoyed addressing complex problems and helping people understand the system.Manufacturing still depends on well thought out processes, good people, quality materials & equipment, clear objectives and communications.I advise those who work under my direction to take the time to do the task correctly. It doesn't matter how fast you can do something if it's not done correctly.My background is somewhat diverse as is my knowledge. I have depended on my hands, my skills and my ability to find solutions for various problems for a long time. I can't imagine stopping.I enjoy putting things in order, repairing and restoring what is set aside, and taking time to think. It is a wonderful gift to be able to think and reason and solve problems. And we all have that gift to some degree. I was given the space and time to develop it and use it. What a blessing it has been!

  Bench work; mostly wire prep and cable assembly. Eubanks cut & strip equipment. Termination presses. Tinning pots. Most products use 22AWG hook up wires.Verify drawings and processes. Determine solutions for new products. Training of personnel moving in and out of area.Fell into this position when mechanical assembly and box-build work failed to materialize.
