I am a 2023 graduate of Washington College with a degree in environmental studies and a passion for sustainability, conservation, and professional growth. Since graduating, I have gained valuable experience in both governmental operations and urban forestry, developing a unique skill set that bridges administrative knowledge with hands-on fieldwork.Post-graduation experience: I began my career working part-time in the Treasurer’s Office, where I developed an understanding of governmental bureaucracy, tax processes, and financial operations. After five months, I transitioned to the Public Works Department, where I have been working as an Urban Forestry Maintenance Worker. Over the past year, I have honed skills in tree climbing, felling, bucket work, chainsaw maintenance, tree identification, and conducting tree risk assessments. Additionally, I have supported other departmental operations, including leaf collection, concrete work, and wall construction. I am currently working toward earning my Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) after obtaining my permit earlier this year and pursuing my Tree Risk Assessment Certification (TCIA).Technical expertise: Proficient in chainsaw operation, tree climbing techniques, bucket truck operation, and tree risk assessment methodologies. Experienced with ARC GIS, Benthic Index for Biotic Integrity, YSI Pro Plus, and conducting environmental restoration projects such as oyster reef construction.Fieldwork and conservation research: As part of my undergraduate studies, I completed a Senior Capstone on the American Bald Eagle, analyzing how climate change will impact its future. My hands-on fieldwork experience includes oyster restoration in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, where I collected and planted oysters, analyzed spat-on-shell data, and promoted sustainable filtration practices.Driven by a passion for learning and growth, I am excited to contribute my skills and experiences to roles that combine environmental sustainability with community infrastructure improvement.
