After I received my Bachelors of Science degree from college I went to work for the Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice . I promoted through the ranks up to lieutenant . I've dealt with all kind of people during my professional career, including those on death row. In 1993 I transferred to the Parole Division and worked as a parole officer. In that capacity I conducted parole hearings on inmates that were eligible for parole consideration. I was also involved with the Executive Clemency Process of death row inmates. The Executive Clemency Process involved writing a very detailed report on death row inmates approximately 90 days prior to their scheduled execution. This report was based on available file material and interviews that I had with the death row inmates. The reports were read by the Parole Board members and the Governor of Texas. The Board members and the Governor used the Executive Clemency Reports to help them to render a decision if the death row inmate should be granted a one-time stay of execution, carry out the execution, or commute their sentence to life.I retired from State Service in April 2004 after 25 years of service. I went to work in December 2005 for Corrections Corporation of America where I was stationed in Lake City, Florida. I worked as a Classification officer.
