I am a Partner (Litigation, Employment & Immigration) at Carey Olsen Bermuda.I specialise in advising both local and international Bermuda based employers and senior executives on a wide range of both contentious and non-contentious employment and immigration matters including: business reorganisations and redundancy processes; data protection issues; employee benefits (including employee incentive schemes and payroll tax advice); business protection issues (restrictive covenants and confidentiality); Human Rights Act 1981 matters; Bermuda work permit, British Overseas Territory Citizen (BOTC) and Bermuda status applications; grievance and disciplinary situations; confidential workplace investigations; and strategic HR advice.I have also represented both employers and senior executives in relation to proceedings in the Bermuda and UK Employment Tribunals, High Court (UK), Court of Appeal (UK) and Supreme Court (Bermuda). My recent Bermuda Employment tribunal work includes advising clients in relation to claims for: unfair dismissal; disability discrimination; race discrimination; sex discrimination; whistleblowing; unlawful deduction from wages; and breach of contract. I also regularly present seminars to HR professionals on the latest employment issues and provide bespoke and commercial in-house training sessions for employers on matters which are relevant to their businesses. In addition, I write articles on employment law for both internal and external publications.
