Manage the operational accounting department for the North American Grain & Oilseeds (NAGO)operations consisting of 67 grain elevators; 50 trading offices and 5 investments in subsidiaries. Offices located in the following States of VA, SC, FL, IL, IA, MO, KS, NE, CO, NM, ID, UT, MT, CA, OR, WA, and in the Canadian provinces of AB, MB. NAGO Accounting Department staff consists of three Regional Controllers supported by 6 Assistant Controllers and 75 location Merchandiser's Assistants. Responsible for verifying and reporting financial results; for establishing the Accounting and Control objectives required to support NAGO Operations; ensure annual goals are set and training provided for our 67 Merchandising Assistants and 9 Accounting professionals; and provide support for other Division or Company initiatives as needed.

Duties include month-end analysis and reporting, balance sheet review, design and implementation of accounting procedures and controls, estimating and forecasting and personnel recruitment, training and development.• Led the acquisition teams for two facility acquisitions• Chairman of the Non-Exempt Advisory Committee• Designed and implemented the Assistant Controller development and incentive plan• Developed standardized pro-forma tool to evaluate acquisition opportunities

Managed two accountants with dotted line authority for 21 clerical employees. Responsible for accounting and controls for eleven elevators, three trading offices, two LLCs, and a wholly owned subsidiary. Was also responsible for the administration and financial analysis of all put-through, operating and supply agreements and preparation of proformas for capital expenditure opportunities. · Established standard model for all put-through agreements used by the Grain Division in conjunction with Corporate Legal, Tax and Insurance Department requirements, saving time and reducing exposure risk.· Compiled and prepared a procedure manual for the Grain Division encompassing policy and procedures from Regional, Export, Settlement, General Accounting and Operations.· Interviewed and Hired staff and successfully separated Positions and P&Ls by elevator.

Managed 6 administrative/clerical employees. Responsible for all Accounting functions related to the operation of two dietary oat fiber manufacturing facilities located in Minnesota and St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada. Further responsibilities for Human Resource functions for a plant of 30 employees.· Successfully negotiated off-site storage agreement for finished product.· Designed and Implemented Accounts Receivable policy and controls.· Established a structured Safety Training Program.· Streamlined the close routine and developed understandable balance sheet reconciliations.

Managed three Accountants and seven Admin/Clerical employees with dotted line authority for 26 clerical employees located at the facilities. Responsible for all Accounting and Administrative functions related to the operation of 18 elevators and a regional trading office.· Successfully planed and implemented installation of the AGRIS accounting system in all Midwest locations, resulting in reduction of accounting and clerical staff from 33 to 20 and an annual savings of $350,000.· Successfully relocated the Midwest Regional Headquarters from Clear Lake to Dubuque, IA.· Systemized and streamlined balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close procedures, saving time, effort and personnel while improving the overall understanding of the business.· Led Accounting teams on five separate elevator acquisitions and four divestitures.
