Site Services Manager
Project Manager
Master Production Controller / Team Lead
As the Master Production Controller for the facility, I created the maintenance plans for all Typhoon aircraft that entered SMU (approx. 28 events per year across 7 operational maintenance bays), and both trained and authorised others in the use of our IMS planning software. Maintenance events varied greatly in scope, with plans ranging from between 3,000 and 4,500 man hours. I was the only Master Production Controller in SMU, and the designated SME in Production, Planning and Control. As an Aircraft Team Lead, I managed a multi-cultural, multi-trade team, conducting 4 maintenance events per year at a duration of 3 months on average per event. I ensure the accurate recording of maintenance and airworthiness activities through both ESS and IMS recording systems.I played an active role in the development of my team members, encouraging them to continuously improve themselves while steadily and safely increasing their levels of responsibility. I have mentored multiple technicians into supervisors, some of which I have then developed further to manage and lead their own teams. I enjoyed leading my team in achieving or exceeding our contractual completion dates, requiring the efficient management of spares in an already challenging logistical environment. To accomplish this, I engaged with supply and logistics on a continual basis and made extensive use of the aircraft cannibalisation system in use by the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF).I frequently interfaced with the customer (the UK’s Ministry of Defence) and also with the customer’s customer (the RSAF) in matters regarding safety, regulation, quality management, and product input and delivery to name a few. I quickly and effectively communicated any problems that fell outside of my area of control to those above me in my chain of command, and to those best positioned to facilitate/implement appropriate solutions.(...continued on my CV, available upon request)
Airframe Technician
I was part of the ‘CAT A’ upgrade team. My role here involved installing upgrade packages onto a number of the RAF’s Tornado GR4 aircraft and then rigging and functionally testing the systems disturbed before delivery, such as hydraulics, environmental controls, brakes and flying controls. I also helped the propulsion team when required with fuel system fault rectification. I made use of the ‘Trilogi’ reference and ‘DMS’ recording systems on a daily basis.
Airbus Bolter
I was employed at Airbus UK’s Broughton site, where I assisted in every stage of construction of the wings for the Airbus A380. My role there included drilling, bolting, riveting, sealing and cleaning whilst inside the confined space of the wing, sometimes for 12 hours at a time. All work I completed there was recorded on the system ‘SAP’. I have also recently completed 3 months working on the new rib foot modification, which involved splitting the rib foot booms into sections and removing these sections individually, then installing replacement sections. All work was carried out on ribs already installed inside the wings.
Mechanical Technician
I was employed by Alsalam Aircraft Company as part of the ‘Emergent Work’ team at the Tornado Programmed Depot Maintenance & Upgrade (TPDMU) facility, located at King Abdul-Aziz Air Base (KAAB) in Dhahran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).Here I carried out scheduled maintenance on the Tornado Aircraft belonging to the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF). My responsibilities here were to rectify any problems relating to hydraulics, environmental control systems, flying controls and surfaces, corrosion prevention and removal, mechanical components, and aircraft braking systems (among others) that may have become apparent during the planned servicing, but were unanticipated in the servicing schedule. It was my responsibility to ensure my work was carried out in a quick and professional manor, while causing minimum disruption to the servicing schedule.
Mechanical Technician
Here I was contracted by Morsons Intl as part of the ‘Functional Testing’ team at the joint BAE and RAF Combined Maintenance and Upgrade facility (CMU) at RAF Marham in Norfolk, UK.Here I carried out scheduled maintenance on the Tornado GR4 aircraft belonging to the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force. My responsibilities here were to ground test the newly re-built aircraft at the end of their servicing, and to prepare the aircraft for the flight test phase. My responsibilities here were mainly fault diagnosis (making use of RAF provided publications and maintenance reference materials) of a particular aircraft system (hydraulics, high lift, braking, environmental control, etc) to then find the specific component/s at fault, and then replacing it/them.
Airframe Technician
Here I was posted to 617 Squadron at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland, UK, working on the Airframes Trade Desk. I held the rank of Senior Aircraftsman (SAC).My job here was to carry out various line maintenance tasks to support operational aircraft such as seeing the aircraft off, seeing the aircraft back in, aircraft marshalling, before flight maintenance packages, after flight maintenance packages, turnaround maintenance packages, and light rectifications such as tyre and brake pack changes, scheduled checks, minor component changes, oil changes, refuels and defuels, and more.I also spent time at the Aircraft Rectification Flight (ARF) at RAF Lossiemouth working on the Airframes Trade Desk. I held the rank of Senior Aircraftsman Technician (SAC (T)).Our job at ARF was to relieve the workload from the operational squadrons based at RAF Lossiemouth by undertaking any work deemed to take over eight man hours and very minor scheduled maintenance packages, allowing the squadrons to concentrate on operations. My responsibilities mainly included the replacement and testing of ‘heavy’ components (the term ‘heavy’ referring to a large amount of equipment and/or spares and manpower requirements) such as primary flying control replacements and flying surface replacements.
