I am a performing artist and theater director that crossed over into political organizing and worked as a campaign manager, field organizer and communications director.As the creative and communications leader of The Carpetbag Brigade, an internationally touring theater company that facilitated cross-cultural exchanges and global seminars, I led teams to success in complex, demanding environments with tight deadlines and competing priorities. The pinnacle of this work was the Bi-Cultural Road Show in which I facilitated a six-month tour with Nemcatacoa Teatro from Bogota, Colombia, The Carpetbag Brigade from Prescott, AZ, Hojarasca Andina, a contemporary Andean musical group, and Verbo•Bala a spoken word/multi-media duo from Tucson, AZ. We traveled across the country presenting six different productions in 111 venues including community residencies, concerts, exchanges, and professional collaborations. In addition to The Carpetbag Brigade I founded and developed the Tsunami on the Square performing arts festival and Global Stilt Congress.As I ventured into politics I transformed my professional abilities and role as a creative director to craft audience messages, build shared narrative, engage with the community, and produce events to successfully support county supervisors, state legislative and congressional races, as well as several grassroots advocacy campaigns. My strengths from the performing arts as a facilitator and planner have found fertile ground in my political career and the insights gained from participating in these two worlds are documented in my master's thesis "Election as Ceremony: Politics and the Art of Transformational Dialogue"My primary strengths are facilitating dialogue, clarifying message and intent, coaching presentations, giving presentations and organizing events.
