I have joined Amazon's Brand Experience & Excellence organization as a Software Development Engineer (II). I work on the functionality known as Manage Your Experiments, which allows brand owners to run A/B tests to determine how best to list their products. I am new to the role, but it is clear that there is a lot of exciting work to be done in this space to give the best possible experience to brand owners selling their products, as well as to general users browsing Amazon!

In August of 2021, I was promoted to lead my development team! As I acclimated to the new role, my focus shifted from individual code contribution towards higher-level solution design and providing guidance to the team. Several new members joined the team over the course of the year, so it was my responsibility to mentor them and bring them up to speed with my domain knowledge and the required technical skills. Despite these challenges, my team delivered multiple high-priority projects!Examples of these projects include:- Ensuring continuity of a business process that relied on data from a legacy system that was to be retired. This involved creating new screens to define more modern data elements, and incorporating them into existing processes via a microservice solution, with a strict retirement deadline of the legacy system.- Implementing a microservice solution to allow business users to query various combinations of vehicle options, used to ensure that future vehicles are compliant with environmental regulations - Designing a solution to determine the required volumes of battery components, allowing business users to better plan for electric vehicles as the company drives towards an electric future.Additional highlights from this role:- Conducted design and code reviews to ensure that best practices were followed and business requirements were met- Ensured operational efficiency of production batch jobs, reorganizing processes and improving Kubernetes infrastructure to reduce completion time by 33% (from 36 to 24 hours).- Migrated production batch jobs between scheduling platforms (Autosys to Tidal) without any business interruptions- Managed software releases, including execution and remediation of code scans, to allow for successful production deployments with minimal defects and vulnerabilities- Developed strategy for migrating applications from Cloud Foundry to Kubernetes, to allow for portability across multiple cloud providers

I started my full-time career as a software developer at General Motors, in the Global Purchasing and Supply Chain - Demand / Supply Planning organization. My focus was to build modern solutions to enhance demand planning capabilities for future vehicle launches. Over the course of time in this role, I gained extensive domain knowledge in Demand / Supply Planning, as well as experience developing microservice solutions using technologies such as Spring Boot framework, Oracle Database, and Kubernetes platform.Here are some highlights from this role:- Designed and implemented new capabilities for web application allowing business users to simulate part requirement impact to the supply base, due to vehicle mix and volume demand changes - Built new microservice-architecture-based solution to retire legacy application, to provide improved part capacity forecasts for future vehicles - Implemented a Kubernetes microservice solution that is central to the Demand / Supply Planning organization, which utilizes IBM CPLEX to efficiently generate vehicle orders based on a set of demand criteria and engineering constraints- Utilized RabbitMQ for message streaming, and Redis for quick data storage and retrieval, to ensure that microservices were scalable and conformed to proper design principles, improving overall maintainability of applications- Migrated web application from WebLogic servers to Cloud Foundry platform, modernizing the application and reducing structural costs by decommissioning legacy server technology- Assisted in cloning a separate version of a web application with dedicated infrastructure for European market- Used Apache POI to augment an application's workflow to include an Excel report generation process, decoupling it from the external application that previously generated the report

I worked at FlexWage Solutions as an intern, as well as a part-time software developer during college. I had the opportunity to work on their unique payroll web application, written in Ruby on Rails. I also contributed to their Android app and test automation framework.Working at FlexWage was an amazing opportunity for an emerging software developer like myself. Being that it was a small company with a small development team, I got a lot of hands on experience, and learned so much in my time there!
