Direct an insurance-based portfolio running up to 50 simultaneous initiatives within an IT organization of over 200 Agile teams. Coordinate initiatives with IT, Sales, Service, Support, Product, and Finance groups.  Portfolio has also included a wide range of product and functional areas including Retirement Services, User Interface Platform, and IT Security.    Proposed and created the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) Program.  Portfolio has included an IT infrastructure Program designed to execute in an Agile environment at scale. Multi-disciplinary infrastructure delivery teams support all Agile software team needs as well as large-scale IT infrastructure initiatives.  Drive a coordinated annual planning process across the entire IT organization that generates a plan of record for all Software Development and IT Operations teams.  This plan of record shows the work every Agile team will perform throughout the year and provides direct traceability from Strategic Direction and Vision to monthly resource activities.  Regularly create, implement, and evaluate performance of new processes that establish standard methodologies, best practices, and governance over project planning, execution, and visibility.  Major focus of the Portfolio is the integration of acquisitions and the implementation of strategic partnerships.  Recent acquisition integrations include the 2019 agile transformations of a $1.2 billion PEO acquisition and the integration of a multi-million-dollar Benefits Administration acquisition into the main Paychex Flex Product line in 2022. The 2019 integration with Equifax’s “The Work Number” that provided revenue streams in excess of $10M per year and the integration with ThinkHR in 2018 that expanded Paychex’s HR Services offering to include Employee Handbook functionality are just two examples of the partnership efforts this portfolio undertakes on a regular basis.

Created a program that drove a multi-year initiative to develop a completely new user experience platform for all major Paychex product offerings. Managed a team of over 10 Scrum Masters and Project managers who oversaw up to 24 Agile teams. Developed and coordinated cross-program planning activities that facilitated reuse, identified dependencies, and aided risk identification for all software teams utilizing the program-developed UX platform frameworks.Established a roadmapping model that easily allowed Product and Program Management to plan feature development activities, coordinate roadmaps across multiple software teams, and provide Senior Management with visibility into the confidence of estimates. This model continues to be critical to Paychex strategic roadmap planning today.

Successfully managed the on-time delivery of Paychex’s first full featured mobile app; initial project rated #1 priority for Paychex (out of over 300 projects). Continued to manage subsequent releases expanding the product offerings supported by the app to all major Paychex products. Instituted Agile methodologies used by all mobile development teams. Functioned as Product Owner and Scrum Master for numerous development teams. Developed and negotiated a new, multi-million dollar third-party vendor contract model where Paychex only paid for Agile “points” that were delivered. Model provided the flexibility of a Time & Materials contract with the security of a Fixed Price contract.

Managed over 20 native and web-based software development projects including internationally released retail photo lab management products, retail photo storage and printing websites, and photographic printer interface software.Functionally managed a group of 7 to 8 developers; directed the daily work of teams of over 20 domestic and Japanese developers.Established numerous Development and Project Management processes that improved the Software Development Life Cycle and allowed the company to attain CMMI certification.

Oversaw all technical aspects and performed third level support for the Studio Master PRO professional photography workflow management product.Developed an automated build and reusable release architecture used for the majority of the company’s native software installations. Version control tracking, automated native code builds, installer builds, automated CD creation, and automated network-based deployment were all included in this system.
