Combined 28+ years Quality Control Materials Engineer and Aggregate Supervisor experience in the aggregate industry. As a Quality Control Materials Engineer, tested aggregates, blacktop & concrete. Throughout this time, gained certifications in NJDOT, PENNDOT, NECEPT and ACI. Before the advent of PENNDOT’s quality tracking programs, created Excel programs for our own company to measure by charting the KPI of our products and were able to maintain quality of materials sold. These jobs lead to the development of mix designs for several of the company’s blacktop and concrete plants. Lead and trained a team of 3 QC technicians during the winter months performing the necessary tests to complete new and updated blacktop mix designs. Also, designed a tool for the uniform quartering of blacktop samples to meet with PENNDOT’s District 5 requirements.Being an Aggregate Supervisor, had several challenges at my company. For example, during the 2016 production season, the summer was in drought conditions and there was only dirty material in the pit. Needed to process this dirty material, instead of scrapping it, by reconfiguring the plant to create different useable products and stop adding to the already high inventory of 300,000+ tons of 2RC material. Designed and built a water/air injection manifold to help lower the TCE values in the quarry discharge water. Designed and built a HDPE and steel piping system to allow discharging of the dust tanker’s blacktop mineral filler while keeping within DEP limits for dust control. Appointed as a BBS (Behavioral Based Safety) team leader for 3 years while still performing day-to-day Aggregate Supervisor duties. After several production seasons, and continuously improving the safety of the plant, achieved a 0-citation inspection from MSHA.
