He has over 15 years of Oil and Gas industry experience, supporting operating areas such as: Mining, Upgrading, Utilities, Extraction, Tailings, Major Projects, and Regional Materials Management. 10+ of those years have provided Jay the opportunity to concentrate on developing a vast amount supply chain knowledge, which has evolved him into a seasoned professional. Jay has a proven track record to build strategic partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders, and a proven ability to develop the trust required to drive forward initiatives that deliver results to meet business plans and objectives. Jay started his professional career in the finance industry, where he worked as a financial planner, creating comprehensive financial plans to meet each client’s personal financial needs, and this is really where his continuous improvement mindset originated. Jay later joined the Suncor Energy team that formed what is now known as the SCM Category management team, where he spent time building out key procurement strategies and implementing a robust Supplier Management program, focused on managing strategic relationships and contracts to ensure the delivery of goods and services, with an excess of $1B per year in annual spend. As the Supply Chain Management (SCM) Manager of Fixed Plants at Suncor Energy, Jay is presently working with a team of SCM professionals to optimize the delivery of Goods and Services and implement win-win commercial models with key Contractors that will support the company goal of creating $2B+ in free cash flow. Jay has also recently led a network of SCM professions through a successful transition to a new SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system implementation, focusing on the transition. With a knack for building and motivating top performing teams, Jay is always ready to hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
