About Jay T. Chaney
I grew up in Mustang, Oklahoma in a household that believed in the value of hard work. I have applied that work ethic to studies, athletic endeavors, and throughout my professional career as a lawyer.After graduating from Mustang High School I attended Southern Nazarene University for three years before being offered the opportunity to play professional soccer. After playing professionally for a time I returned home to complete my education. I graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma.I then began working for the Oklahoma City Police Department as a dispatch trainee. I quickly rose through the ranks and became the youngest 911 Supervisor in the history of the police department. I loved the work but continued to feel the long standing desire I had to become a lawyer. Therefore, after 5 years with the department I applied for and was accepted to the Oklahoma City University, School of Law. During my first year of law school I continued to work overnight as a dispatcher.After my first year of law school, I worked as an intern with the City of Enid's City Attorney's Office, where I helped rewrite and update some city ordinances. I later obtained my Licensed Legal Intern status from the Oklahoma Supreme Court and was then hired by the Bell Law Firm as an intern.Upon receiving my J.D. in 2012, I continued my work in the Workers' Compensation arena for defense firms. While I enjoyed defending businesses from frivolous or abusive workers' compensation claims I felt that my heart was with injured workers and I began working for Ryan Bisher Ryan and Simons in July, 2017.
