Jay Trusler is an award-winning Director and Cinematographer based out of Squamish and Vancouver, BC and Founder of Steller Sight and Sound. After receiving a B.A. in Digital Cinematography from the Met film school in London in 2011 he got his start with Sherpas Cinema working on the award winning feature documentary “Into the Mind” as well as branded content short films and commercials for brands such as The North Face, Kokanee and RAM. In 2015 Jay started his own production company, Steller Sight and Sound in Squamish, BC where his current focus is on documentary series and feature films as well as story driven broadcast commercials and branded content.Over the past 13 years Jay has honed his craft working on a broad spectrum of productions around the world from documentaries on adventure, environment and education to more controlled commercial shoots involving bigger crews and agency. These experiences have led him to become equally at home in both highly orchestrated, controlled environments with a team and the fast-paced chaos of remote or documentary shoots, where improvisation and spontaneity reign. He has directed over 30 short documentaries including several web-series and worked as cinematographer on even more documentary Shorts as well as several Pilot Series and 3 Feature Films as well as dozens of web and broadcast commercials and tourism campaigns for brands such Can-Am, Oceanwise, Whistler Blackcomb, Apple, Salomon, Whistler Tourism, Fjord Norway, Tourism Vancouver Island, and many more.
