Tasked with assisting students to use the various services available in the open learning centre.Assisting library users with finding resources and making resource loans. Assisting with requests for document printing, scanning & duplicating.Coaching students on using the library referencing system to do assignment research and formulating draft outlines according to criteria. Coaching students to use the online e-learning resource, for theoretical consolidation and revision.Guiding students on methods of using knowledge resources holistically in building their careers. Processing, storage and issuing of student textbooks per semester.

In this vocational (F.E.T.) college scenario I am a task coach assisting students; using the Open Learning Centre to research more information to complete their assignments. I also provide a wide range of document support to the students. . The open learning centre compliments the Business Studies and I.T. Studies departments. We provide curriculum-specific learning sessions, research training and information literacy guidance in the weekly timetable hosted in the online research centre and the library.Students need to become more comfortable with rapidly and effectively using multiple sources of information and online learning platforms. This is critical for the technologically-driven working world in which they will find themselves after graduation.

I offered Therapeutic Reflexology to the severly-handicapped children at the Centre, for 2 to 3 mornings a week. I was unemployed at the time, but I offered my skills. The organisation is a NPO and could not remunerate me. The treatments i provided were recorded as case studies and deemed very effective over a period of almost 24 months. I learned much from the experienced special care nurses who provide daily basic care, stimulation and education to the children. They do incredible work.
