Key job responsibilities:- Prepare and submit billing data and medical claims to insurance companies.- Ensure the patient’s medical information is accurate and up to date.- Submit billing data to insurance providers- Work claims and claim denials to ensure maximum reimbursement for services provided- Perform Medicare/Medi-Cal reviews and audits- Reviewing patient bills for accuracy and completeness, and obtaining any missing information.- Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.- Following up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.- Identifying and billing secondary or tertiary insurances.- Prepares and submits clean claims to third party payers either electronically- To follow and adhere to all regulations and guidelines set by state programs, and HMO/PPO, etc.- To transfer insurance claims and billing data to billing software.- To work with personal information and maintain patient confidentiality.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Solid understanding of billing software and electronic medical records.- Maintaining patient confidentiality as per HIPAA.- Competent use of computer systems, software, and 10 key calculators.- Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, collections.- Ability to work well in a team environment.- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.- Outstanding problem-solving and organizational abilities.
