Jay held a senior lead technology position within the organisation during a time of significant change. He was one of the key architects responsible for the development of a bespoke global VPN solution spanning 50+ sites and delivering 1Gbps+ throughput per site. Jay was responsible for the global design and European integration of this solution as well as the design, build and transition of many European office networks. Jay played a key global role throughout the network engineering function and ensured that the infrastructure delivered on the business goals.

Jay was responsible for the design, build and maintenance of the European On-line server and network infrastructure delivering web based content and on-line game facilities to over 11 million users. This included the management of a co-located data centre and the 24x7x365 operation of the services for the business. This role included working directly with the development teams to establish more efficient ways of delivering multi-player game experiences to the customers though the use of technologies such as linux to achieve a higher RoI.

National

Jay worked with a number of clients ranging from small independent travel organisations through to Barclays Bank PLC, whilst contracting and consulting through his company, JNS Limited. This role gave Jay the opportunity to gain exposure to larger corporate environments where his skills could be well utilised. Whilst working with Barclays Bank, he performed several key activities for the Infrastructure teams, such as a response to a major virus outbreak that defeated the then in place anti virus solution. This included the development of a tempory workaround, and the project planning and initiation of a change of AV solution for over 1000 desktops and servers.

Whilst working for ANS Limited, Jay consulted with numerous SME's on technologies such as Novell, NT and general Switching and Routing. Whilst at ANS, Jay developed and built an on-line web development and hosting business for the company and successfully launched this in the market.

Lincolnshire

Aged 17, Jay was hired for £40 per week as his first IT job assembling "Intel 386 Clone PC's" from components before then installing DOS & Windows 3.x. Within 3 years he had developed and was managing a team of engineers delivering installation, deployment, managed support and maintenance services for home users and SME's alike in technologies including Novell 2.x/3.x & IPX/SPX 10-BaseT architectures before then moving to NT 3.51+& TCP/IP & 100/1000 Star topologies.
