Traumatic Brain Injury: Patient Advocate
CurrentGovernor appointed Board member of “New Jersey Advisory Council on Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)”. Attend meetings to advise the Department of Human Services on issues relevant to brain injury services and TBI fund. Mentor coordinator: Bernards Township Parent for Exceptional Children non-profit organization. Managed, streamlined, and coordinated mentor training for Highschool students for five years. Member of “Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey”: Attend and provide input to Annual Education Committee. Organized fundraising events for Brain Injury Alliance of NJ and Make a Wish Foundation. Organized a speech on Brain Injury awareness by a distinguished doctor at Rutgers University, NJ. Organized initiatives as a thought leader with key stakeholders involved in the TBI (and general neurological healthcare) research (other parents, physicians, researchers, clinicians, nonprofits, and government entities). Attended the World Stem Cell Summit for several years and has leveraged the role as a patient advocate to develop a deep network of individuals with scientific and legal expertise in the field. Volunteered at Veterans Hospital with a goal to increase public awareness about brain injury. Currently writing a memoir.
