Currently, I am Project Manager at APSEC (APS Entomological Consultancy), which is a branch of APS Biocontrol Ltd. Here, I am leading projects focused on midge and mosquito control efforts. I also have a role in the Smidge insect repellent branch of APS, where I help out in marketing and sales. Previously, I completed BSc (Hons) Zoology and an MRes in Ecology and Environmental Biology (Biodiversity) at the University of Glasgow. My MRes project was on modelling phocine distemper virus epidemiology with Prof Dan Haydon and co-supervised Dr Ailsa Hall of St. Andrews University. Before this, my Honours research was on “the ecology of insect vectors of potential relevance to the transmission of avian malaria in Scotland”, where I was supervised by Prof Heather Ferguson. I previously worked at APS during my student years on the “Midge Watch” program, which aims to improve their midge severity forecast in Scotland.
