Chief Medical Officer
CurrentAs Chief Medical Officer, I support product development, acting as a representative and voice for the physician and healthcare community Medicomp’s products serve.I fervently advocate for finding ways to make technology an enabler rather than a hindrance for clinicians. As chief Medical Officer, I direct Medicomp’s knowledge base team and clinical advisory board, working closely with doctors and nurses to ensure that all Medicomp products are developed based on user needs and preferences to enhance usability. As the host of a popular, award-winning HealthcareNOW Radio podcast, “Tell Me Where IT Hurts,” I have discussed physician burnout, EHR clinical usability, healthcare data interoperability, and the evolving role of technology in healthcare with various industry experts and pundits. Before joining Medicomp, I served as Chief Medical Officer for McKesson Business Performance Services, where he was responsible for supporting the development of clinical information systems for the organization. I started my career as a physician in a large, multi-specialty practice where he experienced first-hand the challenges of inefficient health IT systems and the often devastating impacts of clinician burnout. After 16 years as a practicing internal medicine physician, department chair, clinic president, and medical director, I left full-time private practice to focus my energy and expertise on the role of technology in facilitating better patient outcomes and reducing physician burnout.Being responsible for recalibrating the MEDCIN Engine and Quippe, Medicomp’s easy-to-use suite of tools integrates into existing EHR systems to provide point-of-care documentation, enhance usability, and meet ICD-10-CM, HCC, and Clinical Quality Measures; I also lead Medicomp’s clinician advisory board working closely with doctors and nurses to ensure that all Medicomp products are developed based on providers’ needs and preferences to enhance usability.
