Master'S ThesisIndian Institute Of Science (Iisc) Aug 2023 - May 2024Karnataka, IndiaI joined Prof. Satish Patil`s lab in Solid State and Structural Chemistry Unit at IISc for my master’s project in Diketopyrrolopyrole (DPP)-based solar cells. My master’s thesis is entitled “Synthesis and optical properties of Diketopyyrolopyyrolee (DPP) Derivatives” The main aim of the project was to develop organic solar cells with DPP based molecules. I was involved with the synthesis of new small DPP molecules like Thiophene DPP and phenyl DPP with side chain engineering, which act as electron donating moiety in organic solar cells followed by fabrication of devices. This project was very exciting as I can build on my existing knowledge of synthesis chemistry, characterization, and device fabrication. During my time in the organic solar cell fabrication lab, I gained invaluable hands-on experience of working in clean room and handling the glove box. I learned the intricacies of materials selection by checking the band alignment, absorption range, checking the electron and hole mobilities of molecules, solution processing techniques like spray coating and spin coating, and device characterization by oriel software. I learned how to analyze the data from software for the calculation of Jsc , Voc , FF and finally the calculation of power conversion efficiency (PCE).Finally I rewarded as A+ for my Project work. -
Summer InternshipIndian Institute Of Science (Iisc) May 2023 - Jul 2023Karnataka, IndiaI joined Professor Satish Patil's lab in May 2023 for an internship focused on the "Synthesis of Monomers for Different Electronic Devices with Organic Flow Synthesis." During this time, I gained hands-on experience with cutting-edge techniques in organic synthesis, learning how to create monomers tailored for use in various electronic applications. My responsibilities included executing and optimizing synthesis protocols, which enhanced my understanding of organic flow synthesis. I also developed a solid foundation in the characterization of organic molecules, acquiring proficiency in techniques such as 1H Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1H NMR), 13C Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (13C NMR), Infrared Spectroscopy (IR), and Mass Spectrometry. These skills allowed me to analyze and interpret the structural and chemical properties of synthesized compounds effectively. -
Summer InternshipIndian Institute Of Technology, Kanpur May 2021 - Sep 2021Uttar Pradesh, IndiaI joined with Dr. Ritika Gautam (online mode) at Indian Institute of technology, Kanpur to work on bachelors’ thesis on “Recent advances, mechanistic strategies, and application of metal-based antiviral, antibacterial, antitumor and antifungal”. -
Summer InternshipHindu College, University Of Delhi Mar 2020 - Aug 2020IndiaI joined Prof. Lalit Kumar laboratory in, department of Physics at Hindu College. During this internship, I gained hands-on knowledge in the fabrication and characterization of organic solar cells, specifically the structure AZO/ZnO/PTB7:PC71BM/MoO3/Ag. A significant part of my work involved developing ITO-free organic solar cells, where I optimized the thickness of the electron transport layer (ZnO), the hole transport layer (MoO3), and the cathode material (AZO). Additionally, I enhanced the active layer's performance by incorporating gold nanoparticles, which improved sunlight absorption and elevated the external quantum efficiency (EQE) values. The PCE was enhanced from 6.19% to 7.01%. Throughout this research, I became proficient in several techniques, including Dektak profilometry, spin coating, thermal deposition and RF sputtering. -
Winter InternshipHindu College, University Of Delhi Dec 2019 - Mar 2020I developed a keen interest in synthetic chemistry and joined Dr. Reena Jain at Hindu college, University of Delhi, to work on a project titled “Green synthesis of Iron nano particle and their applications”., Through this project, I learned to synthesize Iron nano particles through the green route (from pineapple peels and peanut shells) and find their application as a catalyst in Dye degradation. I learned the techniques such as SEM, TEM, XRD (powder and single crystal) TGA for characterizing materials.
