About Jayaprakash Gururaj

Introducing myself has been a tough part post transitioning to data science field, with diverse experience in aircraft structures/engine design and analysis and automobile R&D, the journey has been great so far. One common thing in all these years is "DATA" and "FEEL for Numbers"First few years of my professional career was R&D on vibration and acoustic of automobile engine, where I was exposed to sensors, data/signal processing, vibration isolation design and test-analysis validation. Skill gained here- data (vibration/sound) acquisition, data processing (filtering/cleaning), visualization and insight generation- resonance, degradation) Next experience was on aircraft structure/engine design and analysis (GE Aviation and Spirit AeroSystems (working with Infosys)) to meet FAA requirements. Here too work involved handling lot of aircraft data and building numerical models and predicting the behaviour of structure/engine for failure event - fan blade out, bird hit, static and fatigue damage. Skill gained - data handling (small automation scripts), simulation, visualization, and insights generation - structural integrity, margin of safety, large projects management, client interfacing, building and training technical teamNeed for reskilling came when there was sharp decline in new aerospace programs due to recession in aircraft industry, mostly during mid of 2016. This was challenging phase as well as interesting point of my career. I always loved Mathematics, solving problems using algorithms and most importantly telling story with charts/diagrams ( this part of work is what I loved in previous experiences). Obviously "Data Science" was the choice. Soon realized that there should be structured, and long-term learning required to get into this field. Completed 1 year Post Graduate program in AI/ML. Successfully transitioned (after multiple interviews) within the company to get to Data Science field.Where Iam now is:>Leading a team of data engineers and data scientists which implemented advanced analytics solutions to real business problem leveraging machine learning algorithms> Also, playing role of data science consultant to mine leads, support pre-sales technical proposals, discover and priorities use cases for clients, quantify business benefits and deliver implementation plan>Part of MLOps strategy team, focused mainly of scaling the ML models to production and bringing agility in ML Life cycleSummary: Ready to take up challenge's, love to reskill, knows how much domain knowledge matters to solve business problems
