I was made in the North of England, went to school in Leeds, played rugby, rode a dirt bike (illegally on the roads), skied as much as possible, threw myself in a freezing Lake Windemere and water skied for as long as I could take the cold, broke my arm, two thumbs, nose, got knocked out by a fence - had a great childhood! Started a graphic design shop with my cousin in my early 20's, in Leeds, my brother joined and we expanded and did some really great work, including re-branding Carnaby Street in London - not too shabby for some lads from up North! The dot com revolution came along - I setup Ralph with a friend - a digital creative shop, we did some work for musicians, did some work for Disney and Nickelodeon, did some work for the tv show Dexter - it went viral, we expanded and opened up shops in New York and LA. Persuaded my family to move to LA, we moved including the dog Mac, did some cool work for Breaking Bad and a bunch of movies and other tv shows, we won a BAFTA and got an Emmy nomination. But I'd ended up in too many marketing meetings and too many conference rooms, I desperately needed to get my hands dirty again, get back to my roots - like the early days - when we had fun. I went freelance picked up a camera and haven't looked back. I've shot over 100 short docs and videos for Amgen, General Motors, Cadillac, Adobe, AT&T, Intel, GE, PwC and Allen Edmonds and 2 feature docs - licensed one of them to Redbull TV and directed over 60 tv commercials. I’ve also shot a lot of still photos of surfing for Surfline.I direct for Dictionary Films in Chicago and Direct and DP for King Toledo Entertainment in Los Angeles. I also edit documentary films and have a lot of experience in finding a story from a ton of footage. I love real human stories and have a passion for capturing them. I'm used to traveling across the US and all over the world and always on the look out to collaborate on an exciting new project and story.
