Weekly Food Pantry Volunteer Starting September 2024

On VCU's Monroe Park campus, Chi Alpha hosts a Worship night known as Wednesday Night Live. This event is open to everyone and is a time to unite and worship God as a group/church. As a member of the Student Planning Team, I am tasked with ensuring everyone has an equally enjoyable experience. That includes planning after-service activities, ensuring inclusive environments, and receiving input from attendees.

The DIME Virginia529 Collaborative is a free investment program that gives students the knowledge and tools to build wealth. Over the course of two years, students are taught by industry professionals in all aspects of investment management. Students can also earn scholarships and actual investment accounts to start their investment journey. As an advisor and organizer for the program, my primary role is to give ambassadors (financial professionals) the resources they need to teach students. Other responsibilities that come with this role: Website Design/Organization, Handling applications and registration, Primary line of communication for students and ambassadors, organizing class dates and meetings, creating and sharing resources for students, and ensuring efficient learning in classes. My current program has 17 high school students enrolled.

Student Mentor at George W. Carver Elementary School. Through Community in Schools Richmond Inc. Myself and other DMC Mentors spend a minimum of an hour each week with our student(s). We speak with students about any difficulties they may have whether it be behavioral or academic.

VCU Acceleration Program AlumusThe VCU Acceleration summer session is a four-week residential program where participants take non-credit math and science coursework taught by VCU faculty members, attend health career-focused workshops, hospital tours, Health Professions admissions overviews and advising in preparation for the fall semester.

My experience in the DIME program Levels 1-2 taught me knowledge in Capital markets, Personal finance, bond investing, financial statement, etc. As a student, I was intellectually curious asking questions when needed. I differentiated myself from other students in the program with my work ethic and participative personality. During my time in the program I was awarded the following:- Dargenson Award for classroom presence & outstanding participation- Investor Award for the highest-valued portfolio at the end of the semester- Stock battle Competition winner for the highest-valued stock portfolio in competition involving 6 teams

During this internship, I was able to develop soft skills by speaking to patients and families. I had hands-on experience as well. Taking impressions, Assisting in making retainers, Taking photos of patients' teeth, Scanning teeth, and ensuring the cleanliness of the work space.
