Performs routine Health inspections for restaurants, and Stormwater inspections for industry and commercial facilities.

As a field representative, I routinely set 27 traps for mosquitoes each week to track West Nile Virus. I treated sources of mosquitoes proactively and for citizen complaints. I worked directly with citizens to educate them and resolve their mosquito-related issues. When a mosquito trap was positive for WNV, I would spray a section of the City with a ULV fogger mounted on a truck.

I gained 360 hours of hands-on experience working for the Rowlett Health Department. My final project focused on researching grease traps, grease trap inspector positions, and FOG ordinances. I helped the City of Rowlett develop an app with their GIS department to use during inspections. I located and took photos of every grease trap for restaurants in the City. During my internship, I learned the foundations for conducting risk-based health inspections for restaurants.
