Jay Gildea is a Senior Software Engineer at Wise. Colleagues describe him as "On the 17th March 2016, Lilly held a hackathon with the first year Computing Kent University undergraduates. They were given the brief that they could work in self-selected teams, define a problem statement and leverage the Salesforce.com Platform to build a solution. They had 24 hours to solve the problem, and present back their idea to the judges. The students had been directed to look at Trialhead, but had no knowledge or experience of developing on the Salesforce.com App Cloud platform. Jay was part of the winning team who created “Smart Meal”, an app to manage finding food (restaurants etc) based on location and allergy information input into by a user. The team created a really good end to end story, demonstrating that they had thought through and delivered a compressive solution under tight time pressures. The team was really well organised, and worked well as a team – even more impressive given that the team was literally assembled in a random manner when they turned up on the day. Specifically, Jay wrote the Apex code, including the API integration to restaurant and meal data, which was an impressive technical implementation given the short timelines and steep learning curve. Jay demonstrated some excellent problem solving skills, and an ability to work under the time and stress pressures of the hackathon. "
