Hi, I’m Jayda! As a current nursing student at Kennesaw State, I am an aspiring nurse midwife and a fierce advocate for health equity and quality of healthcare for all citizens. I believe that nurses and all healthcare workers play a vital role in creating environments that improve people’s health and quality of life. It is also our duty to advocate for and address the social injustice of health inequity to those who do not meet the criteria for health coverage or healthcare, in general.Throughout my time in nursing school and my experience in the healthcare field, I have been able to apply my skills of adaptability, time management, compassion, and organization. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA while being immersed in many highly selective organizations and full-time job positions. During the year 2021, I had the opportunity to serve as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Northside Hospital and a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) at Camellia Place, a nursing home in Woodstock, GA. I came to understand that being a nurse is not just about completing routine tasks. Nursing is about making connections with your patients and actively caring for their physical, mental, and emotional state. During my time working in these facilities, however plain a task may appear to have been, I always went home knowing that I made a difference in someone’s life. In my free time, I love to prioritize self-care by spending time with my loved ones and letting my creativity shine through by dancing.
