The research entails 4 main projects:Project 1: Analyze genomic data to infer population structure of bark anoles in Florida Case study: Florida and Caribbean populations of the bark anole, Anolis distichus Data type: Genotype-by-Sequencing (GBS) data, DNA from bark anoles caught in Florida, the Bahamas, and the DR Use R coding to reduce data complexity and map population structure Determine identity of bark anole subspecies in south Florida Project 2: Analyze signaling traits in multiple species to characterize patterns of variation Case Study: Anole species introduced across variable Florida habitats Data type: High resolution images and spectral reflectance curves Use ImageJ/Fiji to characterize structural variation in dewlap design Create plots depicting spectral variation in tetrahedral color space using pavo package in R Explore divergence patterns for signatures of character displacementProject 3: Characterize the landscape and establish campus biodiversity Case study: Pilot data collection at UM - establish transect route and sampling methods for an inaugural season Data type: transect counts, GPS points, images Build maps to depict campus demographics and structural variation Index species richness and diversity relative to structural variation along an urban/natural gradient Project 4: Sharing our science Final group Media Project
