About Jaydeep Ramnani

As a Graduate Research Student at CERLAB, I work on developing and testing novel algorithms for human-robot interaction. I use TensorFlow, PyTorch, and OpenCV to implement vision-based control. I also develop and evaluate deep learning models for inspection and defect detection. I also collaborate with other researchers and professors to design and conduct experiments based on the approaches developed to make them work better.I am pursuing my Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, where I have taken courses in robotics, machine learning, computer vision, and artificial intelligence. I have a strong passion for robotics and mechatronics, and I am looking for a full-time role in robotics that will allow me to apply my skills and knowledge to real-world problems and challenges. I have a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering with Minors in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Gandhinagar, India, where I was involved in several robotics projects and a research internship.

    My initial role focused on coding and integrating sensors on the 1/10th-scale model. Within a month, I transitioned to working on the full-scale prototype, where I led the research and procurement of critical components such as motors, inverters, axle assembly, and battery modules.In addition, I contributed to the CAD design for key structural elements including the battery enclosure, shell, and trailer frame. I played a pivotal role in the assembly process, particularly in testing and setting up the Battery Management System (BMS), and collaborating with my teammate on the Controller Area Network (CAN) for VCU-inverter communication.My hands-on experience extends to machining and manufacturing battery boxes, connecting high-voltage cables, and ensuring a secure assembly. As we progress, my focus will shift towards outsourcing the trailer frame according to the CAD design, assembling all components, and developing control algorithms to get our trailer on the road soon!
