Founder And CeoAnew® Sep 2022 - PresentAnew® is a problem-solving company and single-use bottles are a problem. We want to shift beyond take, make, waste and into a circular economy. Here, products and materials will go round and round and stay out of landfill and the environment. This can only be achieved if we take full responsibility for what businesses produce throughout its entire lifecycle and ensure that industry, consumers and government all work together towards circularity. The Better Bottle is our first step towards this future and our first commitment to a circular economy.Better materials are just the beginning. We knew that to take a step closer to a circular economy we couldn't just stop at better materials, we needed a better system, one that would promote reuse over single use, and encourage product stewardship. Ultimately, we knew we needed to create a positive impact at every step of our product's lifecycle, not just the beginning. So we developed our Better Collection Network. Better Collection is a collaboration between us, our retailers, and consumers to minimise waste and the overall carbon footprint of bottles. To do our best at creating the best lifecycle we can, we take responsibility for what we make. This means that our bottles can be returned to our participating return locations for 're-circulating'. To ensure that each bottle has the best chance of being composted we developed our own composting sites throughout New Zealand. We compost bottles alongside rescued food waste and in Wellington, we use compost to regenerate land and grow food in our urban farm. This process allows us to do what we can to rebuild our soil ecosystems, sequester carbon from the atmosphere and create a local food system. Our bottle made all of this possible, and we can't wait to see what comes next. Show less -
FounderEdible Earth Jun 2020 - PresentEdible Earth is a not-for-profit project by For The Better Good, creators of New Zealand’s first plant-based, compostable and regenerative water bottle. We exist to give people a better choice, but we’re not really a bottled water company, we’re a team of Kiwis who are here to be better, and to help you do the same. We are a small social enterprise focused on making our mark for our community, by designing waste out of the system. A few years ago we started with our bottles, now we actively divert food waste and compostable packaging from landfill, compost it in our Edible Earth micro-farms throughout New Zealand and grow incredible local produce for communities - all made possible by what we traditionally see as ‘waste’. In everything we’re doing we are proving that waste is a valuable resource and in turn, the bridge to Edible Earth. Everyone needs to start small and start somewhere. We have started with this website - where you are right now, a micro-farm on an old bowling green in Porirua and 6 composing sites nationwide. We are in talks with councils about two new community gardens - hopefully coming soon. As we bring more initiatives and content to life you’ll be the first to know. This may seem like baby steps, however as we spread Edible Earth, turning unused land into food sources, please follow with us, nominate your land, share your ideas, get your children involved, and compost your kitchen scraps.
