This was a contract position through TEKsystems. I worked on a Cisco software project to integrate two internal systems used to track security related incident tickets. Technologies used here were: SCALA, AKKA, Kafka, ZooKeeper, NodeJs, Flume, and RabbitMQ. This was a nice introduction to these technologies. I also setup a development system VirtualBox image that used CentOS as the guest operating system.

Used IBM's Rational Application Developer (RAD) to create Java based enterprise applications. Technologies used included: Spring Framework, Session Beans, Message Driven Beans, Oracle database interfaced with JDBC, SQuirrel SQL Client, Hermes message browser, J2EE Unit testing servlets, and XML. Documented the development software installation process so that new team members could come up to speed faster. Included the setup of MQ, MQ Client, DB2 ( switched Oracle), and Rational Application Developer. The project used Agile development processes.I was the technical project lead on the FDR and ATM channel of this project. I provided architectural direction, programmer training, and technical assistance.I employed design patterns to create a maintainable architecture.I worked with business analysts to schedule and scope the stories for each iteration. I assigned work to developers and reported progress to the project managers.

2-3 week contract extended to 3 months.Automated RedHat Linux installation on HP Proliant DL385 and Dell XXXX servers. I created a custom boot CDROM that allowed RedHat installation over the network. Implemented process control through the use of CVS, Eclipse, and ANT builds. Checked all application install scripts into CVS. Used eclipse to edit script because it allowed easy CVS check in/out. Remote software upgrades through SSH, Putty, and SCP. Software updates included, Oracle Database and TomCat based web applications.

Build Manager for Ceridian – Broadview Heights Location.3 month contract that was extended to 16 months.Responsible for WebSphere administration and deployments for Ceridian's Payroll Preview and Payroll Processing Applications. My duties include the automation of the build and deployment process. ANT was used to build and deploy the applications to WebSphere Server version 5.0. I took over the existing build and deployment scripts and greatly enhanced and automated the process for the service and support organization. I was able to reduce the number of manual steps needed to deploy the application by 90%. I was also the CVS administrator. This was hosted on a Linux box. I created some very nice CVS usage statistics with an open source product called StatCvs.Technologies Used: Linux (RedHat), Windows 2000, WebSphere, Java, J2EE, ANT, JACL Script, CVS

6 month contract that was extended to 8 monthsParent company MICROS Systems, Inc.Worked on XStore cash register application software. XStore is a Java based software program that allows their customers to manage their stores.Technologies used: Magic Draw v5.5 for creation of UML diagrams, Jbuilder 9 & 10, Sybase SQL Anywhere 8 & 9, Microsoft Visual Studio v6.0 (used to create a JNI wrapper around a vendor supplied fingerprint API). JDO (KODO), JDBC work (use in critical areas where speed was important), ANT builds, CVS version management, XML, and ClearQuest bug tracking software.

6 month contract that was extended to 1 year 9 months.I was responsible for one of their web sites, namely http://www.fes.comThe business features added during my assignment at FirstEnergy included; Online Enrollment of customers for Natural Gas and Electricity, renewal of contracts, and customer relationship management. For these feature I did requirements gathering, system design, and cost estimation.The web site’s server side components connected to the Oracle database. I was responsible for the design and creation of the tables used on this project. Helped FirstEnergy come up to speed on UML.Helped to improve development processes by adding a build facility to their current processes. I worked on many projects during my 12 years at Diebold. Some of my more recent work included, being Team Leader for a software project that web enabled the company's ATMs. Development used many bleeding edge technologies (this was in the mid 90s). We had to work around many development tool problems as a result. The project took a proprietary software system and converted it to a HTML and Java open system. The project used JavaBeans and Industry standard IDE's (a.k.a. VisualAge for Java) to allow end user customization of the system. The HTML editor of choice was Macro Media's DreamWeaver due to its extensibility. The software and system was awarded several US Patents.On a previous project, I was a developer and technology leader for object oriented software that defined a reusable abstraction layer for ATM devices (i.e. Card Readers, Cash Dispensers, etc) . This allowed applications written above this layer to be hardware independent. The main goal of this project was to be platform neutral. The products that used this software layer had to run on Windows NT and OS/2.Prior to my Team Leader responsibilities I worked on a graphics display subsystem for Diebold's ATMs. I used object oriented packaging technologies to create a reusable graphics system. The software allowed fast display of GIF, FLC, and FLI animations. Cutting edge stuff for the early 90s.

Wrote loads of x86 assembler code in order to get performance required for controlling equipment. Used control theory algorithms to control motors in PID loop.Also, built test & measurement systems for QA departments to ensure product Quality. Added reporting capabilities to machines for statistical process control.
