As Director of Operations Engineering, responsible for providing technical leadership to all departments of the company as well as supervision to the technical departments of the company to include engineering, automation, tool and die, and maintenance. Directly responsible for the reliability and maintenance of all machinery needed for blow molding machines as well as injection molding machinery. Other responsibilities are product development for manufacture, tooling design, secondary equipment design, procurement of required components, and the automation required to enable production to meet customer expectations as well as provide a safe work environment for all workers. The facilities are another responsibility which includes everything from the condition of building and property, managing repairs and improvements, and the providing project management for those type of projects. One example of a facility project was the addition of a new warehouse added to the plant. Responsible for project management of all phases of CAPEX projects and the management of the operating budgets of those projects. One example is of a new high speed blow molding system handled through all project phases from defining the need, justification of the system, development of project scope, management of the phases of manufacturer design, manufacturing, assembly, commissioning at the builders site, testing and verification of performance and quality, and then install, commissioning, system verification in place at SEMCO.

Responsible for multiple sites to improve performance and reliability of those sites in order to decrease operational costs, improve quality of products, and mitigate/eliminate all safety concerns that workers could be exposed to. These systems included project management of all phases of new projects to ultimately improve the performance of those sites. Projects included defining needs, developing the scope of the project, developing the project schedule and budget, gaining project approval, implementing the project plan, verification of the system , and turn over to the specific sites. For each project, responsible (not in order) for packaging & palletizing system design, Project Management, project engineering, budget management, sales & customer support, system commissioning, system installation, contractor management, troubleshooting, system approval, system conceptualization, system enhancements, application engineering, vendor relations, specification development, project & team leadership, best practice development, ergonomic enhancements, new product development, and personnel safety throughout implementation of projects.

Responsible for project management of projects and supervision of team to insure systems were released to manufacturing to include fabrication, machining, assembly, and commissioning.

At Van Pak, now a branch of BASTIAN, I was a project manager for the systems and project engineer responsible for the design of beverage, palletizing, and de-palletizing systems.

At Alvey Systems, I was an engineering supervisor responsible for the design and project management of custom palletizing and pallet conveying systems. Responsible for assisting Sales with technical leadership to gain business, pre-order. Also responsible with installation and commissioning support to insure customer satisfaction.

I was a mechanical project engineer responsible for machine design for custom automation systems from concept to install at customer’s facility. Systems included heavy equipment, pallet/unit load conveying, warehouse transportation, sortation systems, package handling systems, and beverage and food handling systems.

First Squad Leader of Transportation Platoon was my last position. The company was an ammunition supply unit and my primary role was maintenance of the heavy equipment and vehicles of the unit. I had many opportunities for leadership training to include first line supervision, unit management, team squad building, combat assault/defense/survival techniques, and team tactical strategies.
