As a kid in the UK I dreamt of being a Formula 1 driver. I loved watching F1 races because of the innovative design and engineering of the cars, the fierce competition between the drivers at incredible tracks across the world. Alas, that dream never materialized, but I found my career path in software by accident as a teen. I could apply some of the same lessons I learned from F1 into my work - a focus on constant innovation and a genuine love of competition.Silicon Valley was the place to be for software so in 2000 I borrowed $500 USD, packed a bag, and moved from London to San Jose. I worked my way up in various Silicon Valley companies focusing on product and engineering leadership over the years.
