Murrieta Genomics is a Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) based incubator that has a commercial, in-house NGS lab to perform DNA and RNA sequencing services and interpretation to the incubator tenants at cost. The lab is also providing send out NGS services to support market needs. Murrieta Genomics is one of the only incubators in the US dedicated to supporting the validation and development of genetic/genomic based business by providing sequencing services as part of the incubator. The impact that genomic sequencing is having on medicine is unprecedented. Scientists, researchers and entrepreneurs need access to next generation sequencing technology and the business mentors that can help them turn exciting concepts into sustainable companies. Murrieta Genomics fills this critical need in the Southern California region. We offer dedicated workspaces in a state of the art facility with access to the NGS technology and know-how that can prove out their scientific concept. I remain a founding member and work with the company on administrative tasks, but have turned my full focus to Burble.

The Task Force launched a series of COVID-19 Rapid Response Virtual Sessions to engage with fellow small business owners and entrepreneurs across our state, recognizing the need to create a channel for small businesses and entrepreneurs.

I had the great fortune of working with some fantastic scientists, professors and students at the University of California, Riverside. My job was to help get the incredible technologies and solutions being developed at UCR out to the world. In some cases, I helped the professors and students form a new company and develop a commercialization strategy themselves. In other cases, I introduced them to outside business people who could take their idea and run with it. Being around these incredibly gifted people keeps an old codger young. Every time I visit the campus I walk away energized and optimistic about the future of our world.

I worked with early stage companies who need assistance with their business model, business plan, access to funding, corporate structure and the many other things that startups tend to overlook. Every startup has holes to fill, and my job was to help identify those holes and begin the process of strategically working to fill them in. Our SBDC is graded by the SBA on how much economic impact our consulting has on the local economy, meaning jobs created or retained, funding obtained, and revenues enhanced. What a great job!

I assisted Capital Market Relations, an investor relations firm, with writing, editorial, and publishing work for client companies. At CMR we focused on helping clients build shareholder value through proactive communications. Through this position I have built relationships with brokers, analysts, investment bankers, accredited investors and private equity managers around the world.While not actively engaged with CMR now, I still support Chris in his work and will always be there to help him out.

I started a marketing/consulting business in 2001, initially focused on Internet marketing back in the heyday. It since developed into corporate communications, PR, online CRM, email newsletters, etc. I no longer maintain this business but have enjoyed long term client relationships, some going on over a decade. I wrote, designed and published over 140 monthly newsletters for one client, authoring four articles per month on public relations strategies and techniques.

I helped Suntrek reach the next level by introducing structure, training and marketing materials to the sales, marketing and operational teams. A main focus was on marketing strategies and increasing lead generation while reducing costs and increasing conversions. I had the opportunity to work closely with a great team!

As a founding executive of Commonwealth, I helped to develop the initial business plan, obtain funding, and grow the company to $200M in revenues in less than five years. Company went direct to AMEX, providing a strong investment return to the early stage investors. I was responsible for developing marketing campaigns and the national expansion into new states. I developed a renewable energy marketing strategy with our CEO and initiated working relationships with national renewable organizations including Green-e (CRS), Renewable Energy Marketing Board, Northern California Solar Energy Alliance, etc. I reluctantly left the company in Dec 2000 when the entrepreneurial spirit gave way to what I considered to be short-sighted corporate decision-making. Starting and growing this business to over 200 employees was one of the most satisfying experiences of my professional life.
