FounderScience Guy Consulting Jan 2017 - PresentKnoxville, TennesseeDr. Jay Gulledge conducted scientific research and performed environmental policy analysis in academia, non-governmental organizations, and government for nearly three decades before founding Science Guy Consulting in 2017. The company's name reflects Jay's time working in Washington DC for policy think tanks, where he was frequently introduced as "the science guy."Jay's diverse experiences in academic research, advising policymakers and business leaders, and managing large research enterprises in a Government laboratory, have given him special insight into the interface between science and policy, and between science and society more broadly. In 2011, he received the American Geophysical Union’s Charles S. Falkenberg Award, which honors a scientist "who has contributed to the quality of life, economic opportunities, and stewardship of the planet through the use of Earth science information and to the public awareness of the importance of understanding our planet.”
