Jay is a Distinguished Professor at UTS, and founding Director of Global Big Data Technologies Centre. He is the Technical Director of the New South Wales Connectivity Innovation Network (CIN), working with seven universities, industry and government agencies to address major challenges in wireless connectivity, sensing, data sharing and security and resilience. He is a fellow of Australian Academy of Engineering and Technology (ATSE), Royal Society of New South Wales and IEEE. Jay is an internationally recognized research leader, a well established scientist with strong standing in antennas, electromagnetic informatics, and wireless communications and sensing. He is an innovator with sustained industrial impact. He has over thirty years of academic, industry and government experience across three continents. Jay has won numerous national and international awards, and was named one of the most influential engineers in 2014 and 2015 by Engineers Australia. Since 2020, he has been named the National Research Field Leader in Electromagnetism by the Australian Research Awards for four consecutive years. In 2013, he received the prestigious IEEE APS Sergei A. Schelkunoff Transactions Prize Paper Award, arguably the highest recognition to journal papers published in the fields of antennas and propagation. Prior to joining UTS, Jay led a number of CSIRO's research program portfolios as a Research Director.
