Operator working independently and with other personnel to safely maintain and operate equipmentand processes in the Los Angeles Refinery. Some of the processes involved use hazardous and volatile materialsunder high temperature and pressure. Typical working conditions include: outside weather and elements, blowingair, heat, noise, vibration and occasionally working from heights and confined spaces. Following safework practices including the regular wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). In addition, perform various duties required to keep their assigned processing unit/area operating safely.

The Santa Ana College Fire Academy program is administered under the guidance of the Orange County Fire Chiefs’ Association and is nationally recognized as a premier fire-training program. This program meets the Orange County Fire Service standards and has been approved by the State Fire Marshal and the State Board of Fire Services as the First Accredited Regional Fire Academy in California. Standards far exceed the minimum qualifications and training required for California Firefighter I Certification. Education in EMT, Hose Operation, Ladder Operation, Rescue Systems 1, Wildland, S.C.B.A., Ventilation, Auto Extrication, Fire Control III, Salvage Operations, Hazardous Materials, Ropes & Knots, ICS, Combined Drills, Fire Tools & Equipment, Forcible Entry, Testing & Evaluation, Facilities Maintenance, Communications, Cultural Diversity, Fire Investigation, Fire Prevention. Additionally, received certificates in Auto Extrication, Hazardous Materials First Responder, Rescue Systems I, Fire Control III, ICS 200 and Wildland S-190.
