A Student Leadership live-in position where I am responsible for facilitating a positive community among residents, promoting a safe and comfortable living environment, and serving as a departmental and university representative and role model, all while living in a department assigned unit within a DHRL community. Also to provide intentional, structures, and sequenced learning opportunities for residents to enhance their college experiences.

Was accepted as one of the chosen eleven Optometry Track Scholars to participate in a 6-week enrichment program at the Western University of Health Sciences through the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP). SHPEP is a free summer enrichment program focused on improving access to information and resources for college students interested in the health professions. SHPEP’s goal is to strengthen the academic proficiency and career development of students underrepresented in the health professions and prepare them for a successful application and matriculation to health professions schools. WesternU SHPEP offered an innovative inter-professional approach to the Intricate field of Optometry through team-based learning of foundational science, inter-professional faculty teaching and learning, health disparities exploration and healthcare policy education, all centered on the experience of the patient and clinical experience.

As Historian, I was in charge of creating flyers and boards for all of our organization events, gatherings, tabling, community service and fundraisers. Designing our organization shirt for the semester. Lead our general body meetings with our members and prospective members. Assisting and working with other positions with tasks.

Joined a corps of energetic, ambitious, diverse Change-makers. Gave 8 weeks of the summer and gain a lifetime experience. Had the opportunity to serve as an AmeriCorps Member. Continued leadership development through our award-winning students-teaching-students program. Taught, mentored, and inspired highly motivated under-represented 8th grade Scholars in English and scholars who chose American Sign Language and Step as their electives.

•In the morning, I prepared the rooms to be used for camp by fixing the chairs, preparing materials for the arts and crafts activities, pulling out mats, and organizing the objects in the room•During the day, I assisted the therapists as they went through a prepared schedule of events that were set up similar to a Summer camp. I also participated in every activity with the kids such as Yoga.•During lunch, I brought their food to them from their bags, warmed them up if needed, helped eat if needed, and always read a book to them while eating. In the end, I cleaned the floors and wiped the tables as they went to their next activity.•At the end of the day, I wiped down the mats and rolled them up, and put them away. I swept the floors, wiped the tables, and reorganized the room to be ready for tomorrow as the kids went home.
