I had the privilege to complete both my level I and II fieldwork at this pediatric outpatient setting. I was challenged to adapt interventions on the spot to meet the needs of clients and made interventions engaging and meaningful to the client. I worked with parents and caregivers to increase the carryover of skills in the home and school environments. Interventions commonly included ADLs, reflex integration, sensory integration, and fine motor development. I also worked alongside a COTA to fabricate an orthotic. Additionally, I held an in-service for staff to provide education on safe body mechanics for parents and caregivers to decrease the risk of injury and MSDs. This included a parent/caregiver handout.

In this fieldwork level II inpatient rehab and long-term care setting, I implemented client-specific interventions and I frequently adapted them to meet client needs. I managed a daily schedule to ensure the most ideal therapy times with patients. I educated patients and caregivers on the role of Occupational Therapy to increase their independence. I primarily provided interventions focused on IADLs and ADLs, wheelchair positioning, education on assistive equipment, and feeding. With close supervision, I provided PAMs in preparation for intervention.

During the Fall semester of 2020, I completed my fieldwork level I placement at this inpatient setting. I developed group activities to promote engagement in leisure and to maximize independence in ADL/IADLs.
